Whatever

Bought Fahrenheit 9/11 last night at Wal*Mart. (And the irony of that statement is not lost on me....)

My stepdad is a registered Republican. This means that we keep getting those stupid recordings exhorting us to vote Republican. Last Sunday when we got back from Omaha there was one with some shrill harpy talking about how a certain Republican (the aforementioned Bushbot) represents OUR values, blah blah blah. I don't appreciate this crap, since my mother is an Independent & my sister and I are both registered Democrats.... I already despise the man because our esteemed VP (retch) came to town to shill for him at a fund-raising breakfast for the "haves and have mores"... which cost the city $32,000 for security. They had streets blocked off for miles. When our mayor tried to get reimbursed for that money, the Republicans called it a Democratic ploy. I feel like I was forced to make a contribution to a campaign for someone whose political & personal views are directly opposed to mine. If the plastic Bushbot had any balls, he would have reimbursed the city out of the money raised by the breakfast, but in typical arrogant asshole Republican fashion, he hasn't. I love how spending money for education and health care is a waste of money to them, but financing their exclusive little get-togethers, or pouring $80+ billion down a foreign rathole for an unwinnable war isn't.

Yippee, Friday at last... and I'm especially grateful that Spike shows 4 episodes of CSI back to back, since the 2nd presidential debate is tonight... I know I should watch it, but watching the chimp make his smirky little monkey faces makes me want to throw a brick through my television. There's nothing he can say that would change my vote anyway. At least after the election, I won't have see any more commercials for our local Ken-doll Bush-bot. There should be a law against allowing candidates to use their children in a political commercial. At the end of one of his commercials, he trots out his family, and when he makes the obligatory "I'm (insert name here), and I approved this ad" statement, he then asks his 4 identically-clad daughters if they like it, they all chorus "Yeah!" while his dutiful little wifey stands there with a vacant Laura Bush smile on her face.... what, exactly, does the ability to reproduce have to do with one's capability as a public servant?

Halloween fun! I love this time of year!

Speaking of scary--

UNL may get Crue drummer as part of reality show

BY MICHAEL BRUNTZ / Lincoln Journal Star
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee soon may be filming a reality TV show at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Lee, who helped Motley Crue record hard rock classics like "Kickstart My Heart" and "Smokin' In the Boys Room," could be hoping to put the doctorate in "Dr. Feelgood." He just has to get the bachelor's and master's degrees first.Rolling Stone reported the 42-year-old signed on to star in a reality series for NBC, in which cameras will follow Lee as he enrolls in college and experiences campus life. And UNL spokesman David Fitzgibbon confirmed Monday that NBC soon will film a reality show on campus, though university officials wouldn't confirm its premise or talent because of a confidentiality agreement with producers.
Television producer Eddie October, named on Motley Crue message boards and published reports as working with Lee, was in Lincoln Tuesday. October has served as executive producer on "The Roseanne Show" (1998) and VH1's "Bands Reunited" (2003).October referred questions to NBC.NBC spokeswoman Wendy Lockenbill said the network had no comment.Lee is well known for his on- and off-stage antics. He was married to actresses Pamela Anderson and Heather Locklear. He and Anderson made headlines when their honeymoon sex tape surfaced on the Internet. This isn't the first time the university has been approached by reality TV producers, Fitzgibbon said. The school rejected offers to film MTV's "Sorority Life" and "I Bet You Will" on campus. The university wouldn't profit financially from the reality show, Fitzgibbon said, but UNL would get its name out to potential students."They don't really know what we're about," Fitzgibbon said of out-of-state students."The more we can tell that story and get that story to people that don't really know about us, the chances are they'll understand what's special about Nebraska, and maybe they'll decide to come here."Still, officials acknowledged the risk involved in filming a reality show on campus. UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman said the main concern is how the university would be portrayed."There were a number of factors that justified the risk and minimized the risk," Perlman said of the university's decision to approve the show.

( I would have posted the link, but LJS only keeps 2 wks on-line, so it would be broken eventually....)
