The New York Review of Books: How Bush Really Won: This description makes me think of a Nazi rally....

On a beautiful October evening three days before the election, Orlando's Tinker Field had become an enormous bowl filled with 17,000 screaming, chanting Bush partisans floating in a sea of red, white, and blue. On the stadium wall hung a great fifty-foot high sign proclaiming that George W. Bush was 'MOVING AMERICA FORWARD!' Inside, flanking the stage in letters that dwarfed it, and echoed by smaller signs bobbing up and down everywhere in the crowd, was the terse slogan 'AMERICA: SAFER STRONGER BETTER!' And then, precisely placed around the stadium in enormous letters, were the words on which the campaign was built: 'STRENGTH! LEADERSHIP! CHARACTER! INTEGRITY!' Disciplined, organized, relentless, the Bush campaign would never be accused of subtlety.

That people bought this load of horsesh*t just goes to prove how stupid they are. This election was groupthink at it's worst... the Republicans scared all the sheep, so they disregarded the facts and bought the hype, because it's much easier than thinking for oneself. Americans don't like thinking. They'd rather be told what to think, so they have time for more important things like watching tv and getting fat. Why do you think there's so much advertising? Because is works. People will buy ANYTHING they've seen on the television. Just like they'll believe anything they're told by morons like Rush Limpbutt and Bill zzzzzzzzzzzz O'Reilly....

Whoo hoo! Our cable system just added BBC America!!! ... I can watch Monty Python ! And The Office! And Coupling! (The real one, not that sack of crap Americanized version they tried a while back............) And The Avengers! I loved that show so much when I was a kid -- I wanted to be Emma Peel -- she could kick anyone's ass... I just realized Alias is pretty much a modern version of it... and the new season starts next Wed....

Apple - Trailers - The Chronicles of Narnia This looks like it's going to be really cool, with the same people who did the effects for LotR.... Richard Taylor is a genius...

I have the DVDs of the BBC productions the first 4 books. I need to watch them, and re-read the books, it's been years... I don't even know for sure where my books are, they're stored in the garage somewhere... Jen has an all-in-one book, they only problem is, they've taken to putting The Magician's Nephew first, because chronologically, it is, but it was the 6th book published... The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is my favorite, though... if they follow book order, it will be the 3rd movie....

~ Welcome to NARNIA ~ On the apple trailer page, this is listed as the "offical movie site"... except that it's actually more about the books themselves, there is news about the making of the movies, but nothing else.........

Got some nice loot for Christmas, including a straightening iron that dries my hair, a $100 BestBuy gift card (for my car stereo); some burgundy velvet pillows, a snuggly black fleece robe, a bottle of DiSaronno, a cute kitty rug, a book of Return of the King jigsaw puzzles & a Harry Potter Journal (from Jen)..$100 from Dad.......

Garden State comes out on DVD tomorrow, I think I'll pick it up, the Evil Empire will probably have it for under $15 -- I was amazed they had Napoleon Dynamite... I guess there's some big argument on the imdb about whether it's "Mormon" movie... it didn't even occur to me when I watched it, I just thought it was hilarious because Napoleon is the Ubergeek... and he doesn't care, doesn't stress about trying to fit in, he just is.......
