Whatever

Friday, November 12

As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. -H.L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)

stolen from a fellow corpgoth's post. Sad but true.

november fourth.

one step closer to the end of the world. the one-two combo of corporate greed and organized religion apparently proved to be too much for reason, sanity and compassion.

it's a sad and shameful day to be an american.

Art produces ugly things which frequently become beautiful with time.
Fashion produces beautiful things which alway become ugly over time.

A non-political thought (because one cannot live by politics alone... actually, I hate politics, it's boring and soul-sapping, especially right-wing politics... I posted the following on Velvet Pantheon, the Omaha gothic/industrial website, under a politics thread that sadly, hasn't engaged the interest of people who should be deeply concerned about the rising tide of hypoChristianity in this country:

I, for one am deeply concerned. I'm 37 (I know, I'm old ... guess I didn't
"grow out" of my gothiness such as it is)... Anyway, the upshot is, I grew up
under Reagan and his bullsh*t trickle down economics. When I got my first job, I
was paid $2.85/hr, because he had authorized a "training wage" for people under
18. Basically, it was a way for businesses to get cheap labor... I would have
voted against a 2nd Reagan term in '84, but I missed being able to vote by 1
freaking month. I voted against Bush daddy in 1988. The right-wing
hypoChristians were trying back then to take over this country. I was so
relieved when Clinton was elected, I thought our country was finally becoming
enlightened... then came 2000, with the theft of the election, and it's all been
downhill since then. I'm very worried about where our country is going,
especially as a woman, because the right wing is going to do all they can to
undo all the progress that's been made towards reproductive rights... But I'm
also concerned about the impact on the gothic community as a whole. A certain
segment of the population already views us as "Satan-worshipers" yadda yadda
yadda... and now those nut jobs are being put in postions of power. We've got to
get more people to see that even though politics sucks, it does have a real
impact on your life. Who wants a bunch of old a-holes who hate sex and art and
creativity running their lives?

I know they talked about the youth vote, and how many turned out... but there are still a lot of people who have got to shed their apathy and not let the mouth-frother Religious Reich think they have carte blanche to remake this country into a a totalitarian theocracy.

A lot of people scoff at the alarms some of us have been trying to raise, saying we're overreacting. But the German people let Hitler come to power without realizing what a monster he was until it was too late... Hitler also thought he had a mandate from God.

Richard Viguerie This ultra-right wing neofascist was on Morning Edition this morning. Another old white man who thinks he's got a God-given right to be an oppressive a-hole.... It's so scary how these freaks gleefully blather on about imposing their moral values on everyone, like 47% of just don't matter....... some old biddy-bat wrote into our paper to complain about Molly Ivin's last column... I feel like writing in and saying no one forces her to read the column. Stick to George Will and Cal Thomas and the rest of the right-wing syncophants our paper is full of.... The right keeps screaming about how we liberals are trying "force our leftist agenda" on them -- but it's perfectly ok for them to force their agenda on us. I keep arguing with these people that the difference is, we don't care what they believe, as long as they don't try to force it on other people. I would like to know what dictionary the Republicans are getting their definition of democracy from... I guess one person's democracy is another person's neofascist oligarcho-theocracy.............

Kerry Won.
Here are the Facts.
This is probably true. But it doesn't matter. The Republican Reich will prevail, under their sham of "democracy." Bush should never be allowed to say that word again -- or at least he should get a giant electric shock every time he does.
