Nebraska Democratic Party Blog

I am getting so tired of the ads bashing Terry Werner. I am tired of the Republicans will to dominate. They talk about "democracy," yet what they really want is total control. That's not democracy, that's dictatorship. Repukes run just about everything in this state, yet they can't stand having 2 or 3 measly Democrats on the City Council. They arrogantly assume they have some God-given right to impose their agenda on everyone.

Green Tea To Go with Natural Mandarin & Mango Flavors with Flavonoid Antioxidants Came across this at Leon's Saturday -- it's pretty convenient, if a bit expensive. I just wish it came in an unsweetened variety -- I actually prefer my tea that way.

Mom & I finally went to Arabic grocery store at 27th & Holdrege Saturday... I wanted to see if they had pomegranate paste, so I could make that pomegranate & walnut chicken... they had pomegranate molasses, which is pretty thick, so I figured it was close enough. The guy asked us where we were from, we of course said 'here in Lincoln'... then he asked 'You are American? But how did you know about the pomegranate?' I told him because we had eaten at a Persian restaurant in Omaha... I guess they must not get many non-Arabic shoppers coming in. Which is really too bad, that more people don't take advantage of the cultural diversity here (such as it is)... I guess they'd rather go to USA Steak Buffet and eat boring 'American' food....... sad. There are so many different cultures and ways of preparing food, it's amazing. I've had Nepalese food (at the Saturday Market in Portland), Indonesian (some place in Des Moines Stuart and I ate at), Ethiopian (at the multicultural fair last year), as well as Persian, Thai, Pakistani, Indian, Japanese, Moroccan, Caribbean (various types, as well as Mayan, when we went to Belize), Greek... I just wish I could afford to travel & experience more of the world.

I finally resorted to having Barnes & Noble order Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead for me.... Jen & I ate at Jade River Saturday night (Same as last time, the buffet is ok, but the sushi was pretty good), then went to B&N at Southpointe after. Got a copy of British music mag called Mojo because Ian Curtis was on the cover -- it was about the 25th anniversary of his death, and has an article about New Order, too. Haven't read it yet. Also picked up a Brian Lumley short story collection --Beneath the Moors and darker places... I haven't read a lot of his stuff, except a couple of short stories in the Necroscope mythos...

Nothing makes Monday morning quite so special as someone trying to kill you on your way to work.... I was driving down Sheridan behind the bus, and some f'ing moron in a red minivan waiting to cross on a side street about plowed into me! Good thing my car picks up when I punch the gas, because if I had slammed on my brakes, they would have either taken the front end off my car, or broadsided me and probably killed me.... What the HELL is wrong with people?!?!?!?
