Woman to wed man who held her hostage -- ‘We are soul mates,’ victim says of man who also shot her in the groin

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - A woman says she still plans to marry the man who shot her in the groin and then held her hostage in his family’s garage for six days.

Tina Marie Stebbins revealed her intentions in a letter released Monday as her boyfriend, Christian Leroy Lindblad, 37, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting her in June 2002.

“I love Christian today as deeply as I loved him before this awful thing happened to us,” Stebbins wrote in a victim impact statement. “We are soul mates.”

She added: “I want to tell you all that I have forgiven Christian. And I pray that Christian has forgiven me for failing him when he needed me most.”

Lindblad and his parents tried to cover up the shooting by treating Stebbins with home remedies, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s report. They also threatened her young sons and her family, the report said.

Critically wounded, Stebbins was airlifted to a hospital after Lindblad mentioned the incident to a family friend who was a firefighter.

Lindblad pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted murder as his trial was about to begin in early October. He has said the shooting was an accident.

His father, Robert Leroy Lindblad, 72, pleaded guilty in 2003 to being an accessory and was sentenced to three years in prison. His mother, Shirley Royann Samantha Lindblad, 62, was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to the same charge.

The saddest thing is, this mo-ron has children. I pity them for having an idiot for a mother. Doesn't say whether the loser is their father... where is/are the kids father(s)?

Inmate gets abortion after going to court -- Missouri woman’s request for prison transportation went to Supreme Court whoo hoo! a slap in the face of those damn right-to-lifers... this is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned, since the woman can't stay off the tweak... the baby would've had a shitty life...

ST. LOUIS - A Missouri inmate whose effort to get an abortion went all to the way to the U.S. Supreme Court underwent the procedure.

The woman had the abortion Thursday in St. Louis, after the courts ruled that the state Corrections Department must provide her with transportation to the clinic at taxpayer expense.

The four-months-pregnant inmate was in prison in Vandalia, 80 miles from St. Louis, for violating her probation on a methamphetamine-possession charge.

The woman, whose name was not released, was willing to pay for the abortion but said she could not afford transportation. The prison system refused to give her ride because of a Missouri law that forbids the use of tax dollars to facilitate an abortion.

But a federal judge ruled that the policy violated the woman’s right to an abortion, and the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday let the judge’s action stand.

“The governor remains disappointed in the court actions that compelled the state’s involvement,” said Spence Jackson, a spokesman for Gov. Matt Blunt. Jackson said that the prison policy reflects Missouri values.

The travel costs were estimated at $350 for two guards plus fuel.
