Hahn for Nebraska This is who I'll be voting for for governor... I had contemplated voting for Dr. Tom, because I believe he's a sincere and honest man, and I like his campaign contribution policy... but in a debate last week, he said if Nebraska passed an abortion bill like South Dakota's, he would sign it... I hate to be a one-issue voter, but I can't support that.

cartoons by neal obermeyer a lot of this guy's stuff is hilarious, especially this one Hergert is this old doof that broke campaign finance laws to get himself elected to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, for which his excuse was he "didn't have time" to read the rules that ALL candidates are supposed to abide by... he got some inside deal where he paid a fine, but was allowed to keep his office... most people want his cheating ass to resign, but he won't, so they're trying to impeach him... the clueless, smug expression on his face is dead on... my other fave is this one, which needs no explaining, given the current political climate of this country...

This doink is running as a "fiscal conservative"... which I found hard to believe because he's been plastering the tv with ads since last fall..
Ricketts' personal campaign funding hits $2.5 million

Republican Senate candidate Pete Ricketts has plowed another $500,000 into his campaign, bringing his personal contributions to nearly $2.5 million.

Ricketts, who stepped aside as chief operating officer at Ameritrade to seek the GOP nomination, has shattered personal campaign funding records in Nebraska.

His latest campaign loan was reported to the Federal Election Commission on March 22.

Ricketts is matched against former Attorney General Don Stenberg and former Republican State Chairman David Kramer.

The winner of the May 9 GOP primary election will challenge Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson in November.

He's another one that blathers about his "small-town" (he was raised in Nebraska City, but he lives in Omahole now) "Nebraska values" -- "supporting 'traditional marriage'" (anti-gay), banning partial birth-abortion (which really means he wants ALL abortion outlawed), blah blah. Basically just another rich, right-wing a-hole that wants to push his religious values on the rest of us through public office... trying to buy his way into office. But then again, what do you expect in a country that's run by the rich for the rich, and screw the rest of us?

I'm so tired of them all trotting out their families --"Look, I spawned, I must be a great guy!" Whatever. If they're "all about the family", why are they seeking public office, which entails spending most of their time AWAY from their families?!?!

SEN. MIKE FOLEY IS A JERK - Think Tonk this is old, but still relevant (although jerk is a kind word...)

Of course he's not rattled -- zealots only care about forcing their agenda, not what other people think...
Around the Rotunda: Foley’s not laying low
Tuesday, Mar 28, 2006 - 12:06:51 am CST

So you just got past a couple of rough weeks where you won one battle only to have your colleagues take the prize back because they said you lied to them.

A sizable number of people in the state know about it because it was all over the news, and you’re trying to campaign for state auditor.

Lay low for a while and avoid appearances that justify their criticism, right?

Not in Lincoln Sen. Mike Foley’s rule book.

Just a few days after a verbal beating by senators that some observers said was the most punishing they’d ever seen on the legislative floor, Foley decided to spend part of his Saturday standing near the corner of 37th and South streets — the location of family planning and abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

It’s not unusual for protesters to stand at the corner and show opposition to Planned Parenthood. Foley, who was not carrying a sign, said he was there as part of a normal rotation during Lent.

For those who don’t know, Foley got into a jam when he initially told senators his bill to spread state dollars among more clinics was not meant to siphon dollars away from Planned Parenthood.

But an e-mail he sent to a couple supporters indicated otherwise.

When senators found out, they changed their minds about Foley’s idea and said he deliberately deceived them in the process.

Hogwash, Foley said — everybody knows he opposes Planned Parenthood.

Asked about his week while standing near the corner, Foley said he wasn’t rattled and knew when he signed up for the job of state senator it wouldn’t always be easy.

One might ask-- if weaselbutt Foley is really all about the family, why he wasn't spending quality time with his 6 children instead of standing around on a street corner like so many of the pro-birth-at-any-costers... he probably drug them along, like so many of those "Life Chain" losers do... because standing around waving a sign is so f'ing productive

Maybe I don't want to be a baby factory, thank you very much. Have 40 children if you want and can support them, but don't force motherhood on me and don't expect my tax dollars to support your spawn...

No Room in the Big Tent What will it take for pro-choice Republicans to leave the Republican Party?

So the Monkey fired his chief of staff, and hired another one. Big f'ing deal. Another yes-man boot-licker who will tell him what he wants to hear, whether it bears any resemblance to reality or not... the only way to improve the situation is to get rid of the Monkey himself (and his pitbull Cheney, too)...
